Buddhist Temple Tour
Duration : 12 Nights / 13 Days
Destination : Kathmandu - Lumbini - Sravasti - Kusinagar - Vaishali -
Patna - Nalanda - Rajgir - Bodhgaya - Varanasi - Agra - Delhi.
Day 1 : Kathmandu - Pickup
Meeting at
airport upon arrival by Office Personnel. Kathmandu is the capital of
Nepal and the Kathmandu Valley is the political and cultural heart of the
Kingdom. After arrival you will be transferred to the hotel.
Day 2 : Kathmandu -Local
This morning
you will be taken for a visit of the Hindu culture in
Nepal, Pashupatinath. This is the place where holy saddhus pray and
cremations on the Bagmati River are carried out . We then continue to the
holiest shrine for the Buddhist culture in Nepal, Bouddhanath, with its
large stupa, this is the place where all devout Buddhists come for a
pilgrimage

Day 3 : Kathmandu –Lumbini (300 Km 6 hrs)
After
breakfast, drive to Lumbini. Lunch en route. On arrival, check-in to
hotel. Latter proceed to visit the Holy Birth place of Lord Buddha. Dinner and
night stay at hotel in Lumbini.
Day 4 : Lumbini - Sravasti (225 Km 6 hrs including Border
crossing formalities)
After
breakfast, drive to Sravasti. Lunch en route. On arrival, check-in to
hotel. Latter precede for visit Saheth (Jetvanaram) & Maheth (AngulimalCaves).
Dinner and night stay at Sravasti.
Day 5 : Sravasti - Kushinagar( 260 Km 5 hr)
After
Breakfast, drive to Kushinagar. Lunch en route. On arrival, check-in to
hotel. Latter we will visitMahaparinirvana Temple (where Buddha took his
last breathe) and Rambhar Stupa (cremation site of lord Buddha) and Japan
Temple. Dinner and night stay in Kusinagar.
Day 6 : Kusinagar- Vaishali ( 250 KM, 5 hrs)- Patna ( 50
KM, 1 hrs)
After
breakfast drive to Vaishali. Lunch en-route. On arrival, check-in to hotel.
Latter visit Ashokan Pillar - Emperor Ashoka built The Lion Pillar at Kolhua.
It is made of a highly polished single piece of red sandstone, surmounted by a
bell shaped capital Bawan Pokhar Temple: An old temple built in the Pala period
stands on the northern bank of Bawan Pokhar and enshrines beautiful images of
several Hindu gods Budha Stupa-I: Abhiskek Pushkarn (Coronation tank): Latter
drive to Patna. Dinner and night stay at Hotel in Patna.
Day 7 : Patna - Rajgir (100 KM , 2 hrs)- Nalanda(12 KM,
0.5 Hrs)– Bodhgaya (70 KM , 2hrs)
After
breakfast, depart for Rajgir, the capital of the Magadha kingdom and is a
pilgrimage for Jains and Hindus as well. The Japanese Buddhists have built the
massive Vishwashanti Stupa on the Ratnagiri Hill which can be accessed by a
chairlift. The stupa has statues of Buddha at the four stages of his life -
birth, enlightenment, teaching and death. From the hill top, the Jain shrines
can also be viewed, scattered across 26 distant hills. Griddhakuta, located on
Ratnagiri Hill is another site where Budhha stopped by to preach. Lunch en
route and proceed to Nalanda.
Latter
proceed to Nalanda, 12 km. Spread over 14 hectares, the Nalanda University
Ruins Archaeological Complex is set amidst expansive lawns which offset the
spectacular layout and carvings of this ancient university. The monasteries and
the viharas are separated by a central valley. Interesting structures to look
out for include: steps leading up to perhaps a dais for professors and stupas
with images of the Buddha carved in. According to the Chinese traveler Xuan
Zang who also taught at the university during 685 and 762 AD, 10,000 monks and
professors resided here at the time. After the walk around the ruins, visit the
Xuan Zang Memorial Hall, a Chinese pagoda built by Chinese Buddhists.
Latter
proceed to Bodhgaya. Dinner and Overnight stay at Hotel in Bodhgaya.
Day 8 : Bodhgaya- Local- Dungeshwari Caves- Gaya(12 KM) -
Bodhgaya
After
breakfast, we drive to visit Lord Buddha Temple. Visit other sightseeing
places Sita Kund, Janki temple, Bodhi Tree. Come back for lunch.
Latter we
drive to Gaya (12 Kms).En-route vist Dungeshwari cave temples are
also known as the Mahakala caves located 12 kms northeast of Bodhgaya. Lord
Budha underwent years of penance here before he descended to Bodhgaya. A path
across the river and up to the temples is 9km from Bodhgaya on the road to
Gaya. There are three main caves containing Hindu and Buddhist shrines. Latter
Visit Vishnu Temples or Vishnupad Temple is sacred among Hindus and is
dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Back to Bodhgaya. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel
in Bodhgaya.

Day 9 : Bodhgaya - Varanasi(300 KM 6 hr)- Ganga Arti
After
Breakfast transfer to Varanasi. Check-in to Hotel and have lunch in hotel.
At evening,
get ready to experience one of the most memorable moments of your life, as you
will be taken for a boat ride on the River Ganges. Enjoy Ganga Aarti. Get
a glimpse of the spiritualism at the Ganga Ghats(river front).Night stay

Day 10 : Varanasi Morning Boat ride – Sarnath
Early
morning, we will be taken for a boat ride on the Ganges. It is a mystical and
spiritual experience as you watch people offering water to the Sun God and
devotees taking holy dip in the Ganges. Experience the different ghats of
varanasi. Each ghats has his own history and Hinduism value. . Latter visit
some temples on the Ghats, followed by the the Kashi Vishwanath
Temple - one of the famous Hindu temple and is dedicated to Lord Shiva,
where at least once in life a Hindu is expected to do pilgrimage, Anpurna
Temple,Bharat Mata Mandir. These are optional, if have time and interest. Come
back to hotel for breakfast
After
breakfast, we will be taken for an excursion to Sarnath. Sarnath is the
place where Buddha delivered his first sermon to his disciples. The
attractions at Sarnath are the Buddha temples, the Dhamekha stupa,
Chaukhandi stupa and the archaeological museum.

Day 11 : Varanasi - Drop to Railway station/Airport
After
breakfast , have some leisure time in morning. Latter drop to Railway station/
Airport to catch flight/Train for Agra. Dinner on board. Overnight stay at
Hotel in Delhi.
Day 12 : Agra – Delhi (250 KM - 5hr)
After
breakfast, visit to another historical and romantic city Agra. Visit
the beautiful Taj Mahal, wonder of the world. Continue the tour visiting
the Agra Fort containing the Royal residential palaces, the Halls of Public and
Private Audience and beautiful gardens.
Lunch at the
hotel. Afternoon, excursion to the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri. Late
evening transfer to Delhi. On arrival check-in at hotel. Dinner on board.
Overnight stay at Hotel in Delhi.

Delhi
After
breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Delhi visiting Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid and
the Red Fort. Latter visit Akshardham Temple ( Lakshminarayan Temple) - a
modern Hindu Temple. Latter drop to airport with pleasant memory of holy trip.
